Interlibrary Loan

Current students, staff, and faculty have access to millions of books and periodical articles from libraries throughout the country by using Interlibrary Loans (ILL).

Wanting to ILL a book?

Online (School Year Only)

ILL requests for books and audio/visual materials can be submitted directly from the MeLCat online catalog. Once there, and ILL request can by made by:

1.     Search for a book that meets your research needs.

2.     Once you have found an item you wish to borrow, click on the link titled "get this for me."

3.     Choose "Great Lakes Christian College," then enter your name and student ID number which is found on the bottom of the student ID card.

4.     You will be notified by your GLCC email once the item has arrived and is ready to be picked up at the GLCC Library. You can also check the status of your request and renew your items by clicking on the "MyMelCat" link at the top of the MelCat website.

5.     Please note that there is a $0.50/day overdue fine for late returns.

By Email

If you know the book you want to borrow through ILL and you have confirmed that GLCC does not own it by searching the catalog, you can email your request to ill@glcc.edu. Include in your email your name, the title of the book, the author(s), the publisher, and date of publication. You will be notified when the book has arrived at the Library in 1-2 weeks.

By Paper Form

If you know the book you want to borrow through ILL and you have confirmed that GLCC does not own it by searching the catalog, you can complete an ILL Book Request Form found on the spinning carousel by the circulation desk and submitting the form to the circulation desk. You will be notified when the book has arrived at the Library in 1-2 weeks.

Wanting to ILL a Journal Article?

By Email

If you know the journal article you want to borrow through ILL and you have confirmed that GLCC does not have the journal in full-text in one of its databases by clicking on the "Find an Online Journal" link on the Library's website and searching for the journal, you can email your request to ill@glcc.edu. Include in your email your name, the title of the article, the author(s), the title of the journal, the volume/issue number if known and the date of the journal if known. You will be notified when the article has arrived at the Library in about 1 week.

By Paper Form

If you know the journal article you want to borrow through ILL and you have confirmed that GLCC does not have the journal article in full-text in one of its databases by clicking on the "Find an Online Journal" link on the Library's website and searching for the journal, you can complete an ILL Journal Article Request Form found on the spinning carousel by the circulation desk and submitting the form to the circulation desk. You will be notified when the journal article has arrived at the Library in about 1 week.
