FUSION IS NOW CALLED GREAT LAKES WEEKEND!
November 2-3, 2018
In the past, Great Lakes has held an event called Fusion. We had a lot of fun and made some forever memories with thousands of students from across the Midwest, but this year we are looking to join together in a different way. Looking around, we have realized that Christianity has gained a poor reputation. Sometimes the only way people have heard of “God” is in the context of a curse. How can this be though? Our generation is one of the most connected generations in history. Even with all the connection, the church’s reputation has become hurtful and outdated. By coming together in worship, teaching, and service, we want to encourage students to begin to start restoring the image.
We are holding an event in place of Fusion called Great Lakes Weekend. This is different than in the past and will have an emphasis on serving. The theme this year is “Updating Our Profile: Improving the Church’s Image.” We will worship together with the Lansing Campus 242 church band, hear from the creators of the “After Class” podcast (available on iTunes), and serve the local community in a variety of ways. Of course, we will have some fun too. Following our program on Friday night, we will have a time for games and have pizza. We are passionate about the local body coming together with one mission and hope that you will unite with us in helping to promote this vision. Encourage family members, students in your church, students in your neighborhood, or friends who have a heart for serving to attend on November 2nd. Thank you. – Greg Stauffer, VP of Enrollment Management
