Great Lakes Christian College Receives Donation from the Granger Group
$200,000 Gift is Largest of 2023
Lansing, MI, February 24, 2023: Great Lakes Christian College is excited to announce a $200,000 gift from Gary Granger, Chairman and CEO of the Granger Group, a Grand Rapids, Michigan investment, management, and developoment firm on behalf of Alton and Janice Granger (Gary’s parents).
The Granger family have a storied history of contributing to faith-based organizations, supporting Christian schools, missionaries, and faith-based philanthropic endeavors. This is Granger’s first gift to Great Lakes Christian College and initiates a partnership to build a thriving institution of higher education that provides an excellent faith-based undergraduate experience for the region’s college students.
The mission of the College is “to prepare students to be servant leaders in the church and world.” This is accomplished by training students for vocational ministry as pastors, youth ministers, worship leaders and missionaries. And it is accomplished by training students in nine “marketplace ministry majors” such as business, psychology, communication, and early childhood education.
According to President Weller, “We are thrilled to partner with a man of faith like Gary Granger. His business acumen and heart for growing the Kingdom of God makes him an ideal person to help us shape the future of our College.” As a founding member of the President’s Advisory Council on Excellence (PACE) Mr. Granger will work with that team to advise President Weller in expanding its current curriculum and devloping new majors.
